Peskov: Criminal case against Prigozhin is dropped, he moves to Belarus

Russian President Dmitry Peskov's spokesman confirmed in the evening that an agreement had been reached with the rebellious Wagner units through the mediation of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. The content of the agreement is, among other things, that the head of Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, will move to Belarus and the criminal case against him in Russia will be discontinued.

The press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, confirmed on Saturday evening that an agreement had been reached with the mutinous Wagner Group – mediated by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. Among other things, the content of the agreement is that Wagner founder Yevgeny Prigozhin will move to Belarus and that the criminal proceedings initiated against him in Russia for organizing an armed mutiny and treason will be discontinued.


Peskov further said that those Wagner mercenaries who did not participate in the mutiny or voluntarily broke off their participation will sign service contracts with the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Commenting on the fate of the Wagner mercenaries who participated in the mutiny until it was aborted, the Kremlin spokesman said that they would not be prosecuted "out of respect for their past achievements."
