Russian Defense Ministry: Ukrainian military airfields massively attacked

Russia attacked Ukrainian military airfields on Sunday night. According to the Russian military, aircraft, radars and ammunition depots were successfully hit.

Russian forces carried out airstrikes on Ukrainian military airfields on the night of June 4, causing significant damage to aircraft and facilities, according to the Ministry of Defense. As part of the daily briefing, press secretary of the Russian Defense Ministry, Igor Konashenkov, stated:

"Tonight, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation conducted an airborne group strike with high-precision long-range weapons against enemy targets at military airfields. The goal of the attack has been achieved."


As it is further reported, the Russian troops managed to hit command posts, radar stations, aircraft equipment, as well as weapons and ammunition depots. On the morning of June 4, the spokesman for the Ukrainian Airborne Forces, Yuri Ignat, said that during the night an airfield near Kropivnitskoye in the Kirovograd region had been hit. In addition, the infrastructure in the Sumy region was damaged by shelling, it said.


In the past 24 hours, Russian air defenses have shot down two Storm Shadow cruise missiles supplied by the United Kingdom, 14 missiles fired using HIMARS rocket launchers from the United States and Soviet-era Uragan multiple rocket launchers, as well as two tactical Tochka-U missiles, also launched by the Ukrainian armed forces, the statement said. A total of 21 drones were intercepted in the Russian People's Republics of Donetsk and Lugansk, in the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, and over the Black Sea, the ministry said.
