U.S. Secretary of State Blinken is on a state visit to China. The visit comes at a time of growing tensions. China accuses the U.S. of arming Taiwan and creating tensions in the Taiwan Strait. Germany supports the escalation course of the United States.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken is visiting China, where he will meet his counterpart Qin Gang. Blinken landed in Beijing on Sunday. Talks with Chinese government representatives are also planned.

Before leaving, Blinken said that the goal of the trip is open communication so that the U.S. and China could manage their relations responsibly.

The visit takes place in an atmosphere of growing tensions. The U.S. had shot down several Chinese balloons crossing U.S. airspace. The U.S. claimed that these were spy balloons. China denied this.

Above all, however, the handling of the island of Taiwan, located off the Chinese mainland, is causing conflict. The U.S. is escalating through arms deliveries and breaking more and more clearly with the one-China principle. China considers Taiwan to belong to China and strives for peaceful reunification.

However, the collective West, led by the United States, is promoting the island's separation efforts. China responded to visits to Taiwan by high-ranking Western politicians who met with government representatives and showed a military presence in the Taiwan Strait.

Germany participated in the escalation strategy and has already sent several delegations, most recently Federal Education Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger, a government representative.

Officially, the U.S. would be committed to the one-China principle, but would act in the opposite way, China criticized U.S. policy.

In addition to the United States, which has stationed warships in the Taiwan Strait and is also arming Taiwan, Germany is also supporting the escalation course. Most recently, Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (Alliance 90/The Greens) provoked China. Tensions in the Taiwan Strait could not be indifferent to Germany, she threatened in the direction of China.
